The Shops at Skyview commissioned an artist collaboration between myself and Teresa Wozniak to design and hand paint a 600 sq. ft. mural telling a story over six panels. With nods to local landmarks, delicious food, sport and even commuting, we pay homage to the dynamic culture of Flushing, Queens and the 2022 Lunar New Year through the eyes of the Water Tiger.
Delicious smells waft from steaming, overflowing bowls; flowering plants fill gardens against a backdrop of the world; and train after train pulls into its final stop, carrying those coming home - and those coming to explore - the bustle of Flushing, Queens. Among them is the Water Tiger, the symbol of the 2022 Lunar New Year, who eagerly takes in the sights, sounds, smells and flavors this vibrant community in Queens has to offer. Leaping from the subway platform to the botanical gardens, weaving through the streets of Flushing and devouring delicious food on his adventure, he brings with him luck and prosperity for all.
